Creating Clips and Highlight Reels from Your Meetings

Clip the best moments from your meeting transcripts, then stitch them into a highlight reel you can download and share.

Written by Hardik Aswani

Every session has those moments: the perfect quote, the honest reaction, the "wait, say that again." A highlight reel puts them all in one short video your team will actually watch. It takes two moves: clip the moments from your transcript, then stitch the clips into a reel. Follow along and you'll have your first reel in minutes.

📌 Note: Clips live inside your project, so one reel can mix clips from any meeting in that project. Clip once, use it in as many reels as you like.

Part 1: Create your clips

Step 1: Open your meeting

First, make sure you're in the right project. Clips are saved to one project only, so check the project name at the top of the left sidebar and click it to switch if you need to.

  1. Click Meetings in the left sidebar.

  2. Click the Completed tab.

  3. Click the name of the meeting you want to clip from.

You'll land on the meeting's Transcript. That's where the magic happens.

Step 2: Pick your recording and find your moment

Here’s something cool: we don’t just record the session as a whole. You also get each person’s own raw audio and video tracks. So before you clip, choose which one you want:

  1. Click the Recording dropdown next to the Search bar.

  2. Pick the group recording to capture the whole conversation, or a person’s individual track to focus on just them.

Then scroll through the transcript, or type a keyword into the Search bar to jump straight to it. Found the moment you want? Hover over that part of the transcript and click the scissors icon on the right (Clip this segment).

✅ Tip: Want one participant’s reaction front and center? Use their individual track. Want the back-and-forth of a group discussion? Go with the group recording.

Step 3: Trim your clip

The Create a Clip window opens with the recording ready to go.

  1. Drag the two handles on the timeline to set where your clip starts and ends.

  2. Fine-tune with the -5s, -1s, +1s and +5s buttons under Start and End. Perfect for not cutting someone off mid-sentence.

  3. Check the Transcript Context on the right. The words inside your clip are highlighted, so you know exactly what you're getting.

  4. Name your clip in the Clip Title box. A clear name makes building your reel much easier later.

  5. Click Save Clip.

📌 Note: We add a 2-second fade in and fade out to every clip, so your finished clip runs 4 seconds longer than the range you picked. Smooth in, smooth out.

⚠️ Heads up: Once a clip is saved, you can't change its title, start or end. Want a different cut? Create a new clip and delete the old one. So take a second to double-check before you hit save.

Step 4: Check your clips

Click the Clips tab at the top of the meeting page. Your new clip will show Rendering this clip for a few minutes. That's normal.

Once it's ready, you can:

  • Download it to your computer.

  • Delete it if you don't need it anymore.

✅ Tip: Clip generously as you go through a session. Picking your favorites later is much easier than hunting for that one quote all over again.

Part 2: Build your highlight reel

Step 5: Start a new reel

Click Highlight Reels in the left sidebar, then click Create Reel.

Step 6: Add your clips

At the bottom of the page you'll find your Clips library. It holds every clip from every meeting in your project, and each clip is tagged with the meeting it came from. Looking for a specific one? Use the Search clips bar.

  1. Click the + on a clip to add it to your reel.

  2. Repeat for every clip you want. They line up in the timeline at the top in the order you add them.

Want to tweak the lineup? Hover over any clip in the timeline:

  • Change the order: Use the ⇄ icon to move the clip to a new spot.

  • Remove it: Click the red ×. It stays in your Clips library, so you can add it back anytime.

Step 7: Add images (optional)

Want a title card, your logo or a still between clips? Easy.

  1. Click the Images tab.

  2. Click Upload images and pick your files.

  3. Click the + on an image to add it to your reel, just like a clip.

What you can upload: PNG, JPG and JPEG.

Step 8: Pick your transitions (optional)

Good news: we already add a 1-second Fade between every clip. Happy with that? Skip to Step 9.

Want something different?

  1. Click the » arrow between two clips. The Transition Settings window opens.

  2. Pick a Transition Type.

  3. Set the Duration (seconds).

  4. Click Save.

Your transition options:

  • Fade: Smooth and subtle. This is the default.

  • Dissolve: One clip melts into the next.

  • Wipe left or Wipe right: A little extra drama, if your reel calls for it.

Step 9: Preview your reel

Click Preview Reel to watch the whole thing from start to finish. Something feel off? Go back and tweak your clips, order or transitions. Nothing is final until you generate.

Step 10: Generate your reel

  1. Click Generate Reel in the top-right corner.

  2. Give your reel a Title. This one's required.

  3. Add a Description if you like. It's optional.

  4. Click Generate.

Step 11: Let it render

You'll land back on the Highlight Reels page, and your new reel will show Rendering. Grab a coffee. This takes a few minutes.

📌 Note: The page doesn't update on its own. Refresh it to see when your reel is ready.

Step 12: Watch and download your reel

Once it's ready, your reel shows a thumbnail with its length. Click the thumbnail to watch it.

To save it to your computer:

  1. Click the three-dot icon (⋮) next to your reel's title.

  2. Click Download.

That same menu also lets you Play the reel, Edit timeline to make changes, or Delete it.

And that's it. Share it with your team, drop it in a deck, or play it at your next stakeholder meeting.

Quick fixes

  • Need to change a clip? Saved clips can't be edited. Create a new clip with the right start and end, then delete the old one.

  • Clip shows the wrong view or person? You clipped from a different recording. Pick the right one from the Recording dropdown and create a new clip.

  • Need to change a reel? Click the three-dot icon (⋮) on the reel and choose Edit timeline.

  • Clip still says "Rendering this clip"? Rendering usually takes a few minutes. Give it a moment.

  • Reel still says "Rendering"? Refresh the page. It doesn't update on its own.

  • Clip is 4 seconds longer than you picked? That's the 2-second fade at each end. Totally normal.

  • Can't find a clip in your reel's library? Make sure you're in the right project. The library only shows clips from the project you're in.

  • Image won't upload? Check the format. We support PNG, JPG and JPEG.

  • Can't click Generate Reel? The button stays faded until you've added at least one clip or image to your reel.

  • Can't click Generate in the pop-up? Add a title first. It's required.

  • Don't see the scissors icon or the Create Reel button? Owners, Admins, PMs and Moderators can create clips and reels. See Roles and Access Made Simple for details.
